Brentwood Franklin Woman’s Service Club Scholarship through an Endowment at Columbia State Community College
|
Since 2014, we are proud to support students in our community through scholarship opportunities at Columbia State Community College. These scholarships help encourage academic achievement, support educational goals, and invest in the future of Williamson County residents.
To be eligible, applicants must:
It is important to note that BFWSC does not select the scholarship recipients. All scholarship decisions are made through the college as part of its endowment’s established review process.
Even so, we're thankful to support deserving students as they pursue their dreams. Hearing how these scholarships make a meaningful difference reminds us why this work matters so much.
As three recipients shared:
1. “My future career goal is to obtain a position in a doctor’s office as an administrative associate. My career goal has always been to be employed in the medical field. I am excited to be on that pathway. To be awarded this scholarship would help relieve the stress of household finances. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for considering my application as a nontraditional student.”
2. "Thank you so very much for the scholarship this past year. As an older student returning to school, it has been incredibly hard to balance the financial aspect, as studio art classes are daytime only, 3hr studios, twice a week, per class. Many times, I have wondered whether I can continue this path and organizations like yours allow me to continue pursuing a degree. Following this summer, I will have 5 classes left to complete my associates degree, then hopefully I'll be continuing a degree in Art & Interior Architecture at MTSU. I have made my grades a large focus, accepting two honor society invites, hopefully furthering scholarship opportunities in the future. Thank you so incredibly much for your generosity!"
3. "Thank you so much for reaching out again and for all the support from the Brentwood-Franklin Woman’s Service Club and the Office of Advancement. Receiving this scholarship has made a meaningful impact on me and my family. It has helped ease the financial burden of continuing my education while balancing work and family responsibilities. As someone with a long career in public service, returning to school has been both rewarding and challenging, and this scholarship has encouraged me to continue pursuing my academic and professional goals. I am truly grateful for the generosity and support shown by your organization, and I sincerely appreciate the investment you make in students like me. Thank you again for everything you do."
Stories like theirs make us especially proud of the impact our club can have. We're grateful to support hardworking, motivated students as they move toward brighter futures, and we are excited to continue encouraging educational success in our community.
The Brentwood Franklin Woman’s Service Club is also honored to be recognized on the President’s Society Medallion Wall in support of Columbia State Community College, reflecting our continued commitment to education, service, and community investment.

Success for Survivors Scholarship
Education can be a powerful step toward healing, independence, and a brighter future. Through the GFWC Signature Program: Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention, the GFWC Success for Survivors Scholarship was created in 2011 to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence as they pursue higher education. This scholarship offers more than financial assistance—it represents encouragement, opportunity, and a path toward greater personal and financial independence. Since the program began, GFWC has awarded more than $187,600 in scholarship funds to help survivors continue their education and move forward with confidence. The Signature Program is also dedicated to raising awareness and helping prevent violence against women in communities across the nation and around the world. Its focus areas include Intimate Partner Violence, Child Abuse, Teen Dating Violence, Campus Sexual Assault, Elder Abuse, Violence Against Native American Women, Military Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking. To learn more, visit the GFWC national website at the link below. You’ll find key annual application dates and access to the scholarship application. In general, the application is usually posted in October, the deadline is in February of the following year, recipients are notified in June or July, and scholarship funds are sent to the educational institution in July after enrollment verification is received. |
